Domherr

The Domherr site is embedded within Goldtröpfchen. It begins at the Roman press house and stretches toward Ferres. In all, it is 5 ha in size (12.35 acres), of which we own 0.5 ha (1.2 acres).

Given its situation in the heart of the Goldtröpfchen site and its southern exposure, the quality is comparable with that of Goldtröpfchen. Our vines are at the foot of the slope, where the soil is finer than that in higher reaches. They yield wines that are particularly full-bodied, creamy, and powerful. They often need quite a bit of time to open up. The fine structure of very weathered slate, almost mealy in consistence, pervades all the wines and lends them a specific tone.
